Earlier this month we hosted Alexis Donachie from ManagerIQ who presented and facilitated a session on “Navigating the Balancing Act between the Human & Productivity Centred Workplace,” a hot topic of today. The session provided insights into what employees seek to “love their job” such as human centred, work life balance, remote working, hybrid working, autonomy, flexibility, recognition, appreciate, tech and tools (to name a few) and what organisations seek to optimise performance including business goal attainment, employee engagement, talent retention, digital evolution, digital innovation, customer satisfaction, CSR, relevance and sustainability amidst a long list of ideals.

At the #GeelongHRRoundtable our group was divided into industry groups to define what productivity looks like for them, which drew varied responses as did the question “How do you measure it?”.

Alexis then addressed how the two (human centred and productivity centred) can intertwine instead of competing. She drew this together in what she dubbed the Happy Productivity Equation; if an organisation optimises strategy, tools, resources and people experience across the Business, its Management, the Individual as well as providing Productivity Clarity while minimising Distractions, an organisation can achieve the balance.

It was a highly valuable session that gave us great insights and opportunities to apply in our workplaces.
